Eugene Donald Sarno

Eugene  D. Sarno, age 84 of Massillon, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio on  July 27, 1932,  the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Evans) Sarno. 
Eugene was a veteran and had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. 
He retired from  U.S. Post Office and had worked for First Merit as a courier.    He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, K of C Council #554, 3rd Degree, American Legion Post #221 and Orrville American Legion. 
Eugene met his wife nearly 63 years, Marina J. (Comley) Sarno while stationed in the U.S. Air Force in England.  In addition, he is survived by his son Richard P. Sarno and fiance Wendy Delrio of Dalton, daughter and son-in-law Joyce and Fletcher Hunter of East Sparta and daughter Janet Sarno of Massillon, sister Joanne Monigold, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Anna Rose Rupert. 
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 12 Noon at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, 639 First St. N.E., Massillon.  Calling hours will be from 11 to Noon prior to the service.
Burial with military honors will follow the service at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
