Welcome to the memorial page for

Laura J (DiLoreto) Chovan

December 30, 1928 ~ July 15, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Laura J. Chovan joined the Church Triumphant on July 15, 2017, with her family by her side. A 1946 graduate of Washington High School, she was the top female scholar in her class.  The school newspaper stated that she was someone with both “beauty and brains.”  While working in the Massillon school system, she was reacquainted with her classmate Milan E. Chovan, whom she married in 1949.  They lived a life of devotion to each other until Milan’s death in 2015.  She will be remembered for her drive for excellence, her wit, and charm.  Through the years, many a bride was delighted by the wedding cakes she created.  Neighbors appreciated her passion for perennial gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Jenny DiLoreto, her sister Virginia Jurkovich, and brothers John (Helen) and Anthony DiLoreto.  She was the loving mother of Milan (Kathi) Chovan, Jr., Lynne (David) Smith, and Stephanie (David) Hollender; grandmother of Marisa Chovan, Kristi (Todd) Buoni, Kalli (Doug) Schillinger, and Carly Smith; and great-grandmother of Giada and Branson Buoni, and Graham Schillinger. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Church,  107 6th St SW, Massillon at 11am with Rev. Emily Seitz officiating. Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Heitger Funeral Home, Massillon Chapel, 639 1st St NE from 6pm to 8pm. Burial to follow the service at Massillon Cemetery.
