Raymond E. Wantz, age 93 of Massillon, went to his eternal home on Friday, November 3, 2017. 
He was born October 31, 1924, son of  the late Howard and Martha (Oberhauser) Wantz. 
Ray retired in 1986 from the former Republic Steel Corporation.
Ray was a veteran of the Army and served in WWII in Africa and Italy. 
He was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church and a proud 40 year member of AlAnon.  He enjoyed bowling, gardening and fishing.
Ray was a dedicated father and grandfather and is survived by sons, Dennis H. (Polly) Wantz, Raymond C. Wantz, and Christopher J, (Lois) Wantz; daughters, Connie A. Truman and Therese (Stephen) Grimsley; sisters, Florence Tully, Pat Kerr and May Painter; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Joseph Wantz, and wife, Elaine E. Wantz.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 11 A.M. at St. Barbara Catholic Church.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 8, from  5 to 8 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel and on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017 from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church prior to the mass.  
Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery with full military honors.
