Eddie, Eileen and Gabriel send our love and prayers to all of you. Aunt Viv was a strong, common sense woman whom we will miss. All of our sympathy and love we send to everyone in your family.

Having known Vivian's late husband, Phil, when he assisted myself and several other teachers from Jackson Middle School with hundreds of students' archaeological experiences at Nobles Pond, I spoke with her often during the past few months about what she might consider doing with Phil's personal collection of Paleo- and other lithic artifiacts from his long years of collecting. She was always interesting to talk with and our conversations tended to wander from topic to topic for at least a half hour. Having been the Massillon Museum's board president well over a decade ago, I was aware of the museum's origination as a repository of archaeological and ethnographic artifacts and shared this information with Vivian. It wasn't long before she and her daughter, Sylvia, decided that the MassMu would be a better placement for Phil's well- documented collections than any of the other alternatives. Vivian was invariably pleasant when we talked and I'm just sorry that I didn't get to spend more time with her in her home prior to the brief illness which has taken her away from us. Om mani padme hum, Vivian. -- jw.
