Elizabeth "Betty" (Ross) Helbert

Elizabeth “Betty” Helbert, age 101 of Massillon, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Amherst Meadows.
She was born in Bradford, PA on August 7, 1916, to the late John and Anna (Kutchomyre) Ross.
A longtime resident of Massillon, she enjoyed her home and garden, being apart of the St. Mary Altar Rosary Society, Massillon City Hospital volunteer, Knights of Columbus Isabellas, St. Mary and Massillon Senior Center groups. Spending time with her brother Pat and his family and playing Euchre and BINGO!
She was preceded in death by husband, Donald Helbert, son, Larry “Piney” Helbert; brothers, Dick, David, Patsy, Carmen, and John Ross; and sister, Peg Schartz.
Elizabeth is survived by sister, June (Erve) Easton, grandsons, Daniel (Shellie) Helbert, Donald S. (Barb) Helbert; their mother, Jeannie Hodgson; great-grandson, Aaron Helbert; step great-grandchildren, Courtney Conter, and Chelsea and Shelby Dolph.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 206 Cherry Rd NE, Massillon at 11 AM with Rev. Edward Gretchko celebrant.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service.
Her final resting place will be at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her neighbors Bob and Cheryl, for caring for her, and enabling her to live at her home for many years, Amherst Meadows and Harbor Light Hospice for the great care provided.
