Jean L. Nussbaumer, age 87 of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born June 2, 1929, in Canton the daughter of the late Herman and Marguerite (Lang) Colaner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Joseph “Joe” Nussbaumer Jr.; daughters, Diane Adkins, Suzanne Stein; and son, David Nussbaumer; sons-in-law, Kevin Clark, Rick Adkins; sister, Marilyn Cross.
Married to Joe for 37 years, Jean was a lifelong resident of Stark County, the loving mother of nine children; a dedicated nurse; a loyal friend to family and many others. She loved her local sports teams: the Massillon Tigers and the Cleveland Indians. Jean retired in 1992 from the former Massillon Community Hospital after 25 plus years of service. 
She was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, the former Mercy Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, Lehman High School Alumni Association; and a former board member of the Massillon Educational Loan Foundation and the Stark County Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Jean is survived by two daughters, Chrisann Gross (Rodney Grantham), Joann Clark; four sons, Bernie Nussbaumer (Melany), John Nussbaumer (Rebecca), Robert Nussbaumer (Linda), Mark Nussbaumer (Karen); daughter-in-law, Kathlyne Nussbaumer; son-in-law, Perry Stein; brother, William Colaner (Carol); sister, Kathryn Conley-Snuggs (Joseph); sister-in-law, Linda Allen (Steve); 14 grandchildren, Nicholas, Beth, Kristen, John, Ryan, Meg, Mallory, Joe, Amanda, Jim, Jeffrey, Justin, Caitlin, Carly; 7 great-grandchildren, Landon, Caroline, Magnus, Lucy, Hannah, Maddie, Grayson.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at St. Barbara Catholic Church, 2813 Lincoln Way NW, Massillon, OH 44647 at 10am with Rev. Brian Cline celebrant.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Heitger Funeral Home Massillon Chapel, 639 1st St NE, from 2pm to 6pm.
Burial to follow the service at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 7010 Engle Road, # 100, Middleburg Heights, OH 44130.
