Ted A. Hatfield, age 69 of Massillon, formerly of Mentor, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018.
He was born in Madison, WV, on June 26, 1948, son of the late Ted and Ruth Ann (Buchanan) Hatfield. He was a direct descendent of William Anderson Hatfield (Hatfields vs. McCoys).
Ted was a millwright and retired from Canton Drop Forge. He had also worked at Park Drop Forge and RMI in Ashtabula, Ohio where he used his skills on special project assignments. He was also certified in pipe welding and numerous other welding credentials. One of his major accomplishments was building his family’s home along with his two sons.
He enjoyed gardening and boating on Lake Erie and was an accomplished woodworker.
Ted is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cindy (Haggerty) Hatfield, sons Jamie Hatfield of Massillon and Jason (Tina Kish) Hatfield of TX, grandchildren Zoey and Madalyn Hatfield and Ryan, Mason and Lexi Kish, step-brother Roger Harris of Mississippi and sister Romaine Johnson of Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Alice Meyers, and step brothers Ernie Buchanan and Jack Johnson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 11 A.M, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Raymond Paul, celebrant.
Calling hours will be from 10 to 10:45 A.M. at the church prior to the Mass.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
