IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alice (Gargano)
Davis
August 16, 1933 – May 6, 2015
Alice (Gargano) Davis passed peacefully on May 6, 2015 after a short battle with lung cancer. Born in 1933, in Detroit MI, she held life-long friends from every part of the country. She was a long time resident of Parkview Hills in Kalamazoo, MI and her presence will certainly be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Vincent Gargano (12/25/70), Emily (Ashton) Gargano (3/31/94), sister, Gloria Gargano (9/11/90 and recently her son - Roger James Davis (3/28/14).
She is survived by her daughter Emily Ann (Davis) Gareis , husband John , Daughter-in-Law Laura (Coshun) Davis, grandchildren, Alice Elizabeth (Siddall) Crenshaw who is her namesake, husband Michael, Daniel James Siddall and Ty Ashton Davis, great-grandchildren, Charles Roger Crenshaw (Charlie - 7m), Catalena Michelle Crenshaw (9), and Aubrey Jae Siddall (5) and former husband Roger C. Davis.
A Graduate of Denby High/Detroit in 1951, she then went on to Hillsdale College - Class of 1955; a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Homecoming Queen and continued to volunteer working with her sorority for nearly four decades. Before her retirement in 1997 she worked as the Head Cashier for Lehman Brothers (EF Hutton) for 15 years.
Rather than going into details of her beautiful life she wanted to send a message to others - one that became dear to her heart, one that she lived by - "Live the Life You Love - Love the Life You Live". Spend each day enjoying what comes, don't dwell on the past and think about tomorrow but enjoy TODAY - for you never know when it will be gone. Books were one of her many passions in life, having read several thousand over the years.
In honor of Alice there will be a celebration of her life open house that will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2015 - from 1:00pm - 5:00pm, with at Toasting in Her Memory at 2:30pm at Martel's Restaurant located on 3501 Greenleaf Blvd. (Parkview Hills), Kalamazoo, MI.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are suggested to any of these groups she supported: Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 S. Westnedge Kalamazoo, MI 49007; Kalamazoo Public Library, 315 S. Rose St., Kalamazoo MI 49007; Hillsdale College - Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority - 33 E. College St., Hillsdale, MI 49242; Canal Fulton Public Library, 154 Market St. NE, Canal Fulton, OH 44614.
