Alva C. Lowther, age 82 of Tuscarawas Twp., passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012. He ws born November 8, 1929 in St. Clair, WV and was son of the late Warder H. and Wannah (Bennet) Lowther.

He retired from the Timken Company in 1991 where he was a machine operator. He was a veteran of the Army where he served his country during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Vanzil I. Lowther, son Paul (Jody) Mick of Canton, daughters Wannah Lynn Lowther of Canton and Kimberly (John) Just of Massillon, brother-in-law James Dennison of Minn., sister-in-law Audrey Lowther of WV, three granddaughter Jennifer (Chris) Stranger of Canton, Rachael Just and Lauren Just of Massillon and three great-granddaughters Kalie, Anna and Katherine Stranger.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 2 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel with Rev. Steve Kimbrel officiating. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from Noon to 2 P.M. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stark County Humane Society,P. O. Box 7077, Canton, Ohio.
