Beatrice 'Betty' Maier, age 96 of Massillon passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at The Inn at University Village where she was a resident.

She was born November 14, 1916 in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Ambrose and Mary Grace (Barrett) Criss.

Betty belonged to Grace United Church of Christ where she was the oldest living member and Canal Fulton Chapter of Eastern Star #180.

She is survived her son and daughter-in-law, Melville L. 'Bud' and Bonnie Maier Jr. of Massillon; daughter, Sharon Anderson of Massillon; grandchildren, Lori (Luis) Martino, Rod (Tracey) Maier, Jewellee (Keith) Reese, Tom (Lynda) Anderson, Deanna (Andy) Workinger; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melville L. Maier Sr. who died in 2005, and her brother, Bill Criss.

Funeral service will be on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 11:30 A.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - JACKSON CHAPEL, 5850 Wales Ave NW. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 at the funeral home prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
