Obituary

Benjamin W. Proudfoot, age 41, of Green passed away on April 15, 2026 at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital.

He was born January 14, 1985 in Massillon, the son of Wayne and Sharon (Lawson) Proudfoot.

He was a 2003 graduate of Perry High School and University of Akron.

Ben worked at Canton Christian Home as a cherished cook for 10 years.

He was an avid Cleveland Browns, OSU, and Guardians fan. He loved the outdoors and camping.

He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Kara (Jernigan) Proudfoot; parents, Wayne and Sharon Proudfoot; sister, Kelli (Devin) Schafrath; brother-in-law, Kyle (Sarah) Jernigan; aunts and uncles, Diane (Charles) Matthews, Michael (Cynthia) Proudfoot; 6 nieces and 4 nephews and many other extended family and beloved cat, Bella.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wayne and Marilyn Lawson, Neil and Patricia Proudfoot; aunts, Jennifer Proudfoot and Janice Shriber.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW, from 4 PM to 7 PM. And on Saturday, April 25, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a service at 11:30 AM with Pastors Mike Kager and RJ Zupancich officiating.

Burial to follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton.
