Bernard "Bernie" W. Miner, age 76, of Jackson Twp., passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026.

He was born in Akron, September 22, 1950.

Bernie served in the Ohio National Guard.

He retired from Lockheed Martin serving as contracts manager for fighter plane simulation training systems.

He was very involved in Scouting America for 40+ years serving in many leadership positions, guiding many young men to earn their Eagle rank. He was also an advisor to Alpha Phi Omega at Mount Union, a service fraternity based on Scouting principles for over 25 years.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in North Canton serving in many leadership roles, as well.

Bernie met his wife, Sally, at Ohio University. They married in 1970 celebrating nearly 56 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Kate and son-in-law John Smith, and grandchildren, Caroline and Daniel. Siblings, Sue Bearer (Ted), Wendy Prato (Ben), Andy Miner, Joe Miner (Heidi), and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dan Miner.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 11 A.M. at Faith United Methodist Church, 300 - 9th St. N.W., North Canton, with Pastor Thom Kalb officiating.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home, JACKSON CHAPEL, 5850 Wales Ave. N.W., Massillon. Calling hours will also be held on Tuesday, at the church, prior to the service from 10 A.M. to 10:45 A.M.

Burial to follow the service at North Canton Cemetery.
