Betty  "B.J." Shafrath, age 88 of Massillon, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018.
She was born March 15, 1929, in Barberton the daughter of the late Irving and Bertha (Schoolcraft) Young.
B.J. was a retired personal lines underwriter for Nationwide Insurance and had also worked for Drs. Brown and Uslick.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed ceramic classes, cross stitching and needlepoint.
B.J. is survived by her husband of 50 years, Walter Shafrath, sons and daughters-in-law; Daniel and Susan Lucas and James and Claudia Shafrath, sister Mary Lee Berenyi, and her dog Mei-Mei.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Margaret, and her beloved pets, Annie, Maria and Babette.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 3:30 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Gretchko celebrant.
Burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
