Obituary

Betty J. (Gantz) Hassman, age 71 of Massillon, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born November 14, 1941 in Alliance, Ohio daughter of the late Clyde and Bertha (Bender) Gantz.

Betty was office manager for 35 years for Dr. Paquelet and Dr. Hart and was co-owner of Haussie's Market in North Lawrence. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she also belonged to Altar Rosary. She enjoyed cooking, hosting card club but most importantly she enjoyed caring for her six grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bob Hassman of Massillon, sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Shawn Hassman of Massillon and Mark and Alicia Hassman of Westfield Center, sister Thelma (Paul) Hassman of Jackson Twp., loving grandchildren Robert (Kayla), Brittany and Erick Hassman, Joseph, Jonathon and Jacob Hassman and great-grandson Jude Hassman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers Earl and Karl Gantz.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 4 to 7 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Edward Gretchko celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Altar Rosary Society, 726 First St. N.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646.
