Bobby Joe Cottrell, age 71 of Massillon, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016 following a brief illness.

He was born on November 18, 1944 in Spencer, WV, and had lived in Massillon for most of his life.

He was a carpenter and block layer.

Bobby was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Era.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Sue Ann (Myers) Cottrell of Massillon, sons Bobby Jr. and Dana Cottrell of Massillon, daughter Jo Ann Cottrell of Massillon and daughter and son-in-law Tina and Moe Starcher of Spencer, WV, half brother Don Abbott of Amma, WV and sister Susie Dupler of Massillon, twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jackie Cottrell, sister Doris Webb and his grandparents who raised him Ogie and Orae Abbott.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016  at 12 Noon at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, 639 First St. N.E., Massillon, Ohio  44646.  Calling hours will be held from 10 to 12 at the funeral home prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery will military honors.
