IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Jean
Burley
December 15, 1931 – May 23, 2015
Carol J. (Gaylog) Burley nee Bailis, age 83, of Massillon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 23, 2015, in her home following a battle with lung cancer.
Born in Massillon, raised in Canton and attended Timken High School. In her 50's she acquired a GED and became an LPN in 1988 in Florida.
She was the daughter of the late George F. Bailis and Dorothy M. (Irwin) Bailis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theron (Bob) R. Burley of Akron and Vero Beach, FL; sister, Mary Lou (Bailis) DeMeo; and her beloved dog, Rusty.
She is survived by her children: Diana L. (Gaylog) Brown (Ron) of Massillon; William G. Gaylog (Lisa) of Port St. Lucie, FL; Robert W. Gaylog of Akron; step-children: Jeff Burley (Nancy), of Plantation, FL; Alicia (Burley) Kerins (Tim) of Raleigh, NC; Pam (Burley) Stauffer (Carl) of Loris, SC, brother: James R. Bailis of Canton; seven grandchildren plus great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Her dog, Rusty, brought her so much joy; she deeply grieved at his passing. Carol loved to cook for her family and do special, thoughtful deeds for others. She was very creative in sewing, silk flower arranging, and discovering ways to solve household problems. She was very organized, no bug stood a chance in her house, and she had the whitest pants, socks, and shoes. She was a very special lady with a sweet smile and a sense of humor. She loved doing the Sudoku puzzle in the daily paper and grieved when it became difficult for her due to failing health.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 11 A.M. at Heitger Funeral Home, - Jackson Chapel with Pastor David Tebbs officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park in Akron.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 A.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Alan Rudick, Amy Skabar NP, Dr. Christopher Davis, Mercy Homecare and Hospice for their compassion, sensitivity and care during Mom's transition; especially Jessica, Angie, Michelle and Carlene.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Stark County Humane Society, P. O. Box 7077, Canton, Ohio 44705.
