Carol Ann Whitis, age 84 of Massillon, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Amherst Meadows. She was born August 21, 1936, in Massillon the daughter of the late Warren and Emma (Ries) Dretke. She enjoyed her flowers both inside and out.  "Mother had a green thumb and could set something to grow on a city street!"  She also liked to help out canning.  Her vacations to the beach were something she also enjoyed.  Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren would light up her eyes with visits or the mention of their names. Carol Ann is survived by son, Earl "Huck" (Julie) Smith; daughter, Emily (Walter) Weldon; step-son, Tony (Naomi) Whitis; brother, Dave (Shirley) Dretke; sister-in-law, Pat Dretke; grandchildren, Nikole (Brian) Kucharik, Holly Smith, Brendan Smith, Benjamin (Bethany) Pauli, Josh Pauli, Zak Pauli, great-grandchildren, Tanner Speer, Dominic, Chris,  Cole,  Xander Leach, Hudson Pauli, nieces and nephews, Chad (Nicholina) Dretke, Jason Dretke, Alexis and Emma Dretke, Chris (Dave) Spotts, Nathan, Tyler, and Logan Spotts,  Denise (Joe) Mutchler and Amy Dretke. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Verl Whitis and brother, John Dretke. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021, at Rose Hill Mausoleum,  at  3pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stark County Humane Society, P. O.
