IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Jean
(Rose) Carter
March 29, 1943 – April 29, 2022
Carol Jean Rose Carter - mom, wife, grandma, great-grandmother, sister, and stepmother - departed this world on Friday, April 29, 2022 at age 79 years. She was born to Eleanor Jean Rose and James Rose on March 29, 1943 and lived her early life on the banks of the Monongahela River in Morgantown, West Virginia. She fell in love, married and became the mother to three children Robert Fleming (deceased), Vicki Fleming and Jeannie Fleming-Gifford. Professionally, Carol was a bus driver and later in her life retrained to work in the field of radiology. As a bus driver, she ensured every kid on her school bus received a Christmas present and you could find her at every Friday night football game (just to see the band!). Also, as a bus driver, she never lived down the story of running over her daughter (Jeannie's) French Horn (musical instrument). When she retired, she took the stage singing karaoke. A testament to her resilience, three weeks after having open heart surgery at age 69, Carol was on the stage performing Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots are Made for Walking." Carol loved music, animals, and nature. Though she suffered a stroke in 2015 which impacted her short-term memory and physical abilities, Carol continued to connect with many through her sense of humor, beautiful smile and by singing any song, with anyone, at any time. Her final years were spent at Ohio Living Breckenridge Village in Willoughby, OH. Carol found great joy in helping her daughter Jeannie with volunteer efforts to raise potential service dogs. In memory of Carol, her family suggests donations to BluePath Service Dogs (www.bluepathservicedogs.org). A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 4 P.M.at the chapel located on the campus of Ohio Living Breckenridge Village, 36851 Ridge Road, Willoughby, OH. Please leave condolences here on our tribute page. Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon 330-833-3248
