Obituary

April 28, 1943 - June 18, 2026

Carolyn “Kay” Rose Burch, 83, of Massillon, peacefully departed this life on June 18, 2026. Born in Holloway, Ohio, Kay was raised in a close-knit family in a rail house along the B&O railroad, surrounded by her aunts and uncles who worked on the railroad and nurtured her appreciation for the beauty of Belmont County.

After her father returned from World War II, Kay and her family relocated to Canton, Ohio. She attended Lincoln High School and followed her passion for nursing while juggling multiple jobs. Kay devoted her career to caring for others as a nurse at Massillon Community Hospital, where her compassion and commitment profoundly impacted many lives. Together with her husband of 53 years, Theodore “Ted” Burch, Kay managed the Rolling Hills Mobile Home Park for an impressive 28 years.

Kay found joy in painting, gardening, and visiting the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where she loved fishing, hunting for seashells, and spending quality time with her grandchildren.

Kay is survived by her step-son, Scotty (Jamie) Burch; three beloved grandchildren, Sara Rose (Jonathan) Steed, Morgan Therese Weidleman, and Gabriel Lawrence (Morgan Bree) Weidleman; and two cherished great-grandchildren, Mahala Nelson and Waylon Steed. She is also remembered by many loving friends and family members.

Kay was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Theodore Dwain Burch, her beloved daughter, Kristen Marie Weidleman, and her dear brother, Joseph Dodd. She now awaits them in heaven, where their spirits will joyfully reunite in eternal love.

Kay will be remembered for her gentle and kind nature. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday June 23rd at 3:00pm at Sunset Hills Burial Park Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St.Jude, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 in her memory.
