Obituary

Christine "Chris" M. Kirven, age 82 of Canton, went home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2026 at Green Meadows Skilled Nursing home in Louisville.

She was born March 6, 1944, in Akron, the daughter of the late Raymond and Cathryn (Mendlein) Kirven.

Chris was a teacher for many years at Central Catholic High School. That brought her great satisfaction! After Chris retired, she became a librarian and worked several years at Rodman Library in Alliance. She had memorized many quotes but a favorite by T.S. Eliot that Chris liked to share was: "For us, there is only the trying. The rest is not our business." Chris was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Ruth Circle. She loved classical music, reading, walking, nature, and all animals.

Chris is survived by her friends, Ellen Rogers and Peggy Rushe, who supported her through her battle with Alzheimer's Disease. We want to thank Seniors Helping Seniors for providing so many kind and caring companions whose presence Chris truly appreciated.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Terry Kirven and long time friend, Carol Darcy.

A celebration of Life Service will be held for Chris on Monday, May 18th at 6PM in the chapel at the Inn at Belden Village, 3927 38th Street Canton, her residence of late. A "coffee and cookie" reception will follow the service. We all know how Chris enjoyed a cup of hot, black coffee!

Her final resting place is with her parents at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chris's name to the Alzheimer's Association 1-800-272-3900, or www.alz.org.

Condolences maybe left here on the Guestbook.

Arrangements are being handled by Heitger Funeral Home & Crematory 330-833-3248.
