D. Dale Estep (AKA Smoothie and Papa Dale), age 72, of Massillon, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic. He was born August 24, 1952, in Charleston, WV., the son of the late Robert and Icie Lovinda (Paxton) Estep. "Dale" was a retired semi-driver.  He also worked for Heitger Funeral Home.

"Smoothie" was a member of Divine Mercy Parish-St. Joseph Campus where he was a volunteer, an ancient acolyte, and a member of St. Joseph's Men's Group.  He was also a social member and a volunteer at the American Legion #221, DAV, and Knights of Columbus Council #554, 3rd Degree. Dale is survived by step son, James "Mike" Stewart (Beth Fike): step-daughter, Katherine "Kate" Stewart; grandsons, James "Mike" Stewart II, (Marissa), Anthony  Stewart (Kate); brother, Don Estep; great-grandsons Jaidyn Stewart and Lucas Stewart; brother-in-law, Lowell Bixler; and sister-in-law, Betty Sarachene. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife Rosann (Sarachene) Estep; brother, Paul Estep; sister, Donna Bixler; brother-in-law, John "Bosco" Sarachene. Dale would always say he was a blessed man to have all the friends he had.  He will be truly missed. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Heitger Funeral Home - MASSILLON CHAPEL, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11 A.M. at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Joseph Campus. Burial to follow the service at St. Joseph Cemetery.
