David P. Chovan, age 63, of Massillon died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Affinity Medical Center.
He was born July 25, 1950, in Massillon the son of the late Albert and M. Jean (Heck) Chovan.
He was an Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War as an airplane mechanic.
David worked for Al Chovan's Transmission Shop for 20 years. He also worked in construction in various areas.
He was a trustee for Eagles 190 and was a member for many years. He loved boating, fishing, bowling, and vacationing in the Carolinas.
David is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mary Chovan; daughters, Dianna (Kevin) McAfee, Shelly (Michael) Belcher; three step sons, Richard, Billy, and Todd (Amanda) Proper; brothers, Donald (Becky) Chovan, Richard Chovan, Darrel (Susie) Chovan; sister, Janet (David) Puncheon; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 12 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heitger Funeral Home, Massillon Chapel, 639 First St NE, and on Thursday an hour prior to the service from 10am - 11am.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Heitger Funeral Home at 11AM with Rev. Edward Gretchko officiating.
Burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon with military honors.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
