David C. Lustig, age 78 of Massillon, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 following an extended illness. He was born September 6, 1943, in Nashua, NH, the son of the late Carl and Myra(Blood) Lustig. David was an Army veteran serving 13 months in Vietnam. David retired from Canton Union Drawn Finishing Plant after 47 years as a millwright. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church for 53 years, Steel Workers Union Local # 1124, K of C Council #554 3rd Degree. He enjoyed Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, going to auctions, fishing, gardening, family gatherings and going out to eat. David is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lois (Workman) Lustig, daughters, Jennifer (Michael) McConnell and Rebecca Lustig and husband Jason Pratt; grandsons, Daron and David McConnell, brother, Dr. James E. Lustig; sisters, Margaret Ann Hainsworth and Myra E. Horn, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave. N. W., Massillon, 44646 from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Massillon with Fr. Edward Gretchko celebrant. There will also be calling hours at the church prior to the Mass from 10:30 A.M. to 11:15 A.M. His final place of rest will be Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Salvation Army 315 - 6th St. N.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646 or K of C Family Program, 988 Cherry Road N.W., Massillon, Ohio 44647.
