David A. McVay Sr., age 65 of Navarre, died Friday, March 18, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his friends and family.

He was born July 31, 1950, in Woodsfield the son of the late Paul and Marilyn (Kohler) McVay.

David retired from Canton Drop Forge where he worked for 40 years.

He is a member of Massillon First Church of the Nazarene. He spread the word of God to many churches through recitation of scripture from memory. David was an avid woodworker, collected model trains, fast motorcycles, and fast cars.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Bonnie (Savage) McVay; brothers, Donnie and Bob.
David is survived by his wife, Melissa McVay; children, Angela (Shawn) Brogan, Paul (Theresa) McVay, Mindy (Marc) Edwards, David (Cathy) McVay; sister, Jeannie "Queenie" (Bob) VonWyl; 17 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, 639 First St NE, from 6 to 9pm.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
