David R. Thompson, age 71 of Massillon, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Compassionate Care Center.
He was born November 13, 1945, in Canton the son of the late Guy and Hazel (McCaslin) Thompson.
He was a veteran of the Army.
David retired from Republic Steel after 42 years of service.
He was a member of Trinity Gospel Temple of Canton, where he was an usher. He enjoyed gardening, boating, cooking and decorating for the holidays, and spending time with his family.
David is survived by his wife, Beverly (Lambert) Thompson; children, Arin (Cindi); Christy (Travis); Azia Thompson; step children, Kathy, Jerry, Travis (Colleen) Boyd; brother, Joseph (Chris); sisters, Wanda (Robert) Smith and Lelah Thompson; grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by sister, Hazel Tender.
As per his wishes no services will be held.
His final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton.
