IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Deborah Kay
Berecek
August 5, 1953 – November 30, 2024
Deborah Kay Berecek, 71, passed away surrounded by her daughters on November 30th, 2024. She was born August 5th 1953 and resided in Jackson township most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Elizabeth Smith. She is survived by her daughters Jaime (Scott) Brubach, Erin Berecek, her stepdaughters Emily Cush and Stefanie Reynolds, and her brother Glenn Allen Smith along with her Nieces, Nephews, Brother in Laws, Sister in Law, and step Grandchildren.
Deborah was a 1971 graduate of Jackson High School. She worked at the Timken company early on in her life and returned to the work force after raising her daughters, as an optometric assistant for Dr. Joel Riley at Eye Care Specialties.
Debbie was very creative and always making crafts to give as gifts. She loved ceramics, cross stitch, crocheting, and making clothes for her daughters to dress their Barbies in. She loved playing board games and cards, especially Euchre. She had an impressive collection of all types of angels that she cherished and gave her peace.
Debbie had a smile that would light up a room and laughter that was infectious, making everyone around her laugh as well.
She was a long-time member of Canton Bethel Temple where she volunteered for the food program and then later attended Woodlawn Church where she assisted her daughter Erin in the toddler room.
Music was Debbie's favorite thing. She was always singing for Weddings, at church or at home. She sang in the "Christmas Spectacular" at the Canton Palace Theater for many years.
Her final years were spent at Chapel Hill Community in the memory care unit where she spent her days singing for the enjoyment of the residents and staff. We would like to thank Chapel Hill for the amazing care that she received over the years and to Mercy Hospice for the comfort care in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Chapel Hill Community Memory Care in Canal Fulton.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 10 - 11 A.M. with a service immediately following at Woodlawn Church, 2800 Woodlawn Ave. N.W., Canton 44708. Her final resting place will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Belden Village.
Please leave condolences here on our tribute wall.
