Obituary

Dennis R. Cioca, 69 of Ft. Myers, Florida, formerly of Jackson Township, passed away March 3, 2011 at Gulf Coast Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dennis was born December 14, 1941 in Canton, son of the late Paul and Eugenia Cioca.

Dennis graduated from Perry High School and also earned a honorary Doctorate from Scioto University. Dennis was a member of St. George Romanian Orthodox Church and a member of Electricians Local 540 for 45 years where he served on the Executive Board, Heritage Cove, Assoc.

Dennis was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family. Dennis was also a gifted craftsman and he enjoyed his lawn and cars.

In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by his brother Paul J. Cioca.

Survived by his wife of 47 years Sandy; Daughters, Debra (Matt) Wenger and Julie (Jim) Shirilla; Grandchildren Tyler, Sydney, Lauren and Ashley; Mother-in-law, Elizabeth Funk; Sister-in-law, Sue (Larry) Carlson; Brother-in-law, Jim (Christine) Funk; Godchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins along with many friends. He was a wonderful person who will be sadly missed.

Calling hours Wednesday, March 9th, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Heitger Funeral Home, 5850 Wales Rd. N.W. Jackson Township, Massillon, OH 44646. Saracusta service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 10th at 10:30 a.m. at St. George Romanian Orthodox Church, 144 30th St. N.W. Canton, OH 44709 with Father George Treff and Father Ian Pac-Urar officiating. There will also be calling hours at the church from 10 to 10:30 A.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made either to St. George Romanian Orthodox Church or Presentation of Our Lord, 3365 Ridgewood Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333 or a charity of your choice.
