Dennis L. Smith, age 85 of Canal Fulton, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023 at Rose Lane Care Facility. He was born November 19, 1938, in Canton the son of the late Wilbur and Ruth (Eshelman) Smith. He was an Air Force veteran serving 8 years. Dennis was a retired insurance agent. He was a member of SS. Philip & James Parish and Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed golf, playing cards, and attending all his grandchildren's activities. Dennis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sally (Hall) Smith; children, Denise (Steve) Kotz, Tim (Yamile) Smith, Jennifer (Tom) Cerreto; grandchildren, David (Lindsey) Kotz, Haley (Alexander) Meisner, Jeff Kotz, Hayden Smith, Anthony Cerreto, and Marissa Cerreto; step-grandchildren, Briana (Matt) Bobzien and Basil Spence; step-great grandchildren, Alexandra and Matthew Bobzien. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at SS. Philip & James Catholic Church, 412 High St NE, Canal Fulton at 11 AM with Rev. Thomas Cebula celebrant. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a Rosary at 4:30 PM. His final place of rest will be at St. Barbara Cemetery in Massillon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to SS. Philip & James Catholic Church.
