Obituary

Dennis A. Zolla, age 74, formerly of Naples, Florida, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025 at Summa Akron City. He was born October 23, 1950, in Paterson City, N.J., the son of the late Liziert and Ann Marie (Pignato) Zolla. Dennis was born in Paterson, but spent the majority of his life in Orange, Connecticut, where he graduated from Amity High School. Later in life, he fulfilled his dream of retiring in Florida, moving to Naples to enjoy the warm weather. Florida was a place he had always envisioned for his golden years, and he cherished his time there, surrounded by sunshine and the beauty of the Gulf Coast. Dennis was a self-taught computer programmer whose determination and passion for technology allowed him to overcome the challenges of his disabilities and achieve great success. With an insatiable curiosity and a relentless drive, he mastered programming skills that paved the way for a fulfilling career. His perseverance and ingenuity were an inspiration to all who knew him. Dennis worked at Aetna for many years before retiring from the Collier County Sheriff's Office. A bit of a foodie, Dennis cherished Sunday dinners with his family. In his free time, he enjoyed playing Cribbage and target shooting. Dennis also a deep love for Disney, finding joy and magic in every visit to the parks. Over the years, Disney became a cherished destination for him, not only because of the unforgettable experiences but also for their exceptional accommodations for those with disabilities. His trips to Disney were a testament to his adventurous spirit, where he could fully embrace the wonder and inclusivity the parks offered. Those who joined him on these vacations will always remember his very generous nature and the love of enjoying that time with his family. Dennis is survived by his brother, Robert (Barbara) Zolla; sister-in-law, Dot Zolla; nephews, Christopher (Sara) Zolla and their children, Brian (Tamie) Zolla and their children, David (Donna) Zolla and their children, Mark (Tracy) Zolla and their children, Phillip (Steve) Zolla; great-nieces, Katlynn Jordon and Kristina Whiteley; cousins, Beverly Copelton; friends, Rae Ann Kotowski, James Calamari, Lucy Diabo, and Amy Hutto.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Zolla; his sister, Myrna Zolla; and nephew, Kenny Whiteley. Dennis was a long time supporter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1016 W.
