Donald Wilhelm Jr., 94 of North Canton passed away August 9, 2014 at Aultman Compassionate Care Center.
He was born May 20, 1920 in Kenmore, the son of the late Donald E. and Mabel V. Wilhelm.
He graduated from Coventry High School in 1940.
Donald was an Army Air Corps veteran serving during WWII as a Bombardier Instructor for 4 years.
He retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber with 30 years of service as a Race Tire Design Engineer.
He was a lifetime member of Willowdale Men's Club, and a member of Willowdale Fish Committee, where he spent many years selling walleye fry.
Donald was also a member of McDonaldsville St. Paul UMC, and a former member of Lockwood UMC.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mabel (Green) Wilhelm; five children, Terree (Earl) Lasko, Dan (Lee) Wilhelm, Thomas "Rusty" (Barb) Wilhelm, Ken (Miki) Wilhelm, Sue (Chris "Ralph") Corrigan; brother, Robert (Virginia) Wilhelm; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3.5 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Heitger Funeral Home, Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW, at 1pm with Pastor Erv Urschitz officiating.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the funeral home from 6pm-8pm and on Wednesday an hour prior to the service from Noon – 1pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to McDonaldsville St. Paul UMC or Haven of Rest Ministries.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Erv and Aultman Palliative / Hospice for their compassionate care.
