Doris I. Heitger, age 85 of Massillon passed away peacefully on December 25, 2013 with her family at her side.

She was born in Massillon, on January 28, 1928, daughter of the late Arthur and Bessie (Bosch) Gallatin.

She retired from MCA Sign Company where she had worked for 20 years. She had formerly worked in the catalog department at the Massillon Sears and at the Newberry Company.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Rosary Alter Society and Columbian Ladies Guild. She was a volunteer for the food committee at the K of C Bingo and enjoyed baking and cooking.

Doris is survived by her husband of 64 years Robert P. Heitger Sr. of Massillon, sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jr. and Jane Heitger of Tuscarawas Twp., Jeffrey and Cathi Heitger of Jackson Twp., daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and William Efinger of Perry Twp., sisters-in-law Natalia Gallatin of AZ and Carolyn Rainey of Massillon, grandchildren Jared (Vicki) Heitger, Thomas Heitger, Robert III (Rebecca) Heitger, Daniel, Heitger, Rachel (Tom) Ullum and Brandon Heitger, great-grandson, Luke, niece Nancy Bixler and great-niece Tammy Zalesinsky.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Arthur, P. Kenneth, Russell, Chester and an infant brother.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 2 to 6 PM at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Edward Gretchko celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
