IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward D.
Hunter
August 24, 1947 – December 5, 2020
Edward D. Hunter age 73 of Brewster passed away December 5, 2020, following complications due to COVID 19.
He was born August 24, 1947 in Massillon, the son of the late Harris and Viola (Yost) Hunter. He was an Army veteran serving during Vietnam. Ed retired from the Brewster Post Office after 24 years as a mail carrier. He had also been a laborer for the Norfolk and Western Railway for 15 years.
He will be remembered for having brought a constant sense of excitement, curiosity, inquisitiveness, and joy to his children throughout their entire lives. Along with his gentle nature, he was known for his wonderful sense of humor, wit, and so many memorable one-liners. He hosted a weekly Friday night poker tournament for many years up until 2020. The simple things in life, including daily walks with his wife, and relaxing on his front porch while listening to music or Tom Hamilton's play-by-play of the Cleveland Indians, were the highlight of his day. He found great joy in being the best listener during long chats with his dear friends, children, and family.
Ed is survived by his wife, Melanie Hunter; children, Stephen Hunter, Beth (David) Baylor, Carrie Grace (Jace) Hensel, Scott (Gina) Hunter; grandchildren, Cameron, Cole, Luke, Drake, Preslie, Annabelle, Serena and Kavon; siblings, Sister Mary Hunter, Barbara (Rick) Chapis, Jim (Liz) Hunter, Bill (Sally) Hunter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Debbie Hunter; and his sister, Lucille Hunter.
A private service will be held by the family. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Calvary Cemetery, 3469 Lincoln Way E, Massillon 44646 at 1 PM; family and friends are welcome. Masks are required and Covid protocols will be practiced.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Condolences to the family may be made here on our tribute wall.
