Edward C. Kemp Sr, age 91, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Laurels Of Massillon.

He was born August 22, 1920, in Massillon the son of the late Fredrick C. and Helen C. (Martin) Kemp.

He retired from Republic Steel where he was a steel worker.

Edward was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church, he enjoyed fishing, listening to the steel guitar, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Massillon Tiger and Cincinnati Bengels Fan.

He served his country with the Army during WWII.

Edward is survived by five sons, Edward Jr., Jerrold, William Sr., Richard and Jeff Kemp, brother, Jerome (Carolanne) Kemp, two sisters, Ruth Nolan and Evelyn 'Toots' Chouris, five grandsons, two granddaughters, and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion (Sanders) Kemp, two brothers, Thomas and Roy Kemp, two sisters, Gracie Huston and Elanor Schall, a granddaughter, and a great-grandson.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 23 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heitger Funeral Service - Massillon Chapel, 639 First St NE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church, at 10:00 AM with Rev. Edward Gretchko celebrant.

Burial to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, N. Canton.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to American Legion Post #221, 427 Lincoln Way East, Massillon, OH 44646.
