Elfriede A. Shepler, age 86 of Massillon passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Brewster Convalescent Center. She was born September 4, 1926 in Hermannstadt, Czechoslovakia and had lived here since 1949.

She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and was active in church work. She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent cook. She took pride in her home and loved her family. She enjoyed digging and planting in her flower beds and watching the birds at her bird feeders. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James L. Shepler of Massillon, daughter and son-in-law Ilona J. and Rodger Bucher of Massillon, brother Adolph Irmler of Fussen, Germany and grandson John Englehardt of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Ingrid Green who died Oct. 21, 2009, son-in-law David Englehardt and two sisters Anni and Hilde.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel 639 First St. N.E. in Massillon.

Funeral service will be on Friday, Feb.1, 2013 at 1 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice, 7568 Whipple Ave. N.W., North Canton, Ohio 44720.
