Elizabeth L. Matheson, age 90, of Jackson Twp., passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Affinity Medical Center.

She was born on May 10, 1922 in Huntsville, Alabama, daughter of the late Rev. Alfred and Loma (Coker) Hayes. In 1998 at age 75 she retired from Central States Can Co in Massillon after 36 years of service. Elizabeth enjoyed collecting antiques and glassware and was an avid sports fan. She had recently celebrated her 90th birthday surrounded by her family and friends.

She is survived by six children, Becky (Darian) Richardson of Strasburg, Sylvia Ball of Lake Worth, FL, Beth (Ted) Fowler of Kingman, AZ, Gail Buchanan of Virginia Beach, VA, David (Kathy) Matheson Sr., of Jackson Twp., and Debbie Matheson of Jackson Twp., sister Edith Bond of Oak Ridge, TN, twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Wilbur G. Matheson who died in 1998, infant daughter Janet who died in 1949, four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 11 A.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel with Rev. Robert Angel officiating.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home and on Friday from 10 to 11 A.M. prior to the funeral service.
