Emma L. Harper, 64, passed away Friday morning, July 6, 2012 following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born September 1, 1947, in Massillon, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick Barr and Cordelia (Barr) Simon.

She was an LPN in Doctor's Hospital Surgery and Emergency Departments early on in her career. She then spent 25 years working as a School Nurse with Developmentally Disabled Children at both Eastgate and Rebecca Stallman Southgate Schools in Stark County.

Emma was active in the First United Methodist Church in Massillon. She enjoyed camping, dancing, swimming, and riding her bike. She was a devoted mother and liked to volunteer in the community.

She is survived by a son, Mark Harper, his fiancee, Megan Osborne, and a daughter, Missy Harper, all of Canton; two sisters, Susan (Barr) Whetstone of Massillon, Estella (Barr) Starcher of Arizona, a brother, Fred Barr of Copley, and several nieces and nephews.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, and her husband, Larry M. Harper.

As per Emma's wishes no funeral services will be performed and there will not be calling hours.
