Fay Margaret (Hikes) Concheck of Canal Fulton, Ohio passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016.
Fay was born August 18, 1937, in Louisville, Kentucky and resided in Lorain, Ohio for 5 years and in Canal Fulton since 1966.
Fay graduated from Manual High School in Louisville, Kentucky in 1955. She went on to Cosmetology School and became a beautician. She managed the beauty salon at the Kaufmann Department Store at St. Matthews Mall in Louisville.
Fay is a member of Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church in Canal Fulton. She bowled for many years on area teams. Fay was also an avid reader.
She was an extremely devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family first.
Fay is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joseph J. Concheck, her sons, Joseph E. Concheck of Columbus, Ohio, Charles Concheck of Park City, Utah; and daughter and son-in-law Laura and David Rector of Manchester, Ohio. Surviving grandchildren are Kara and Leah of son, Joseph; and Michael and Anna of daughter Laura Rector.
Fay was the eldest of ten children. Also surviving her is mother, Ira Fay Hikes, 98 years old of Louisville, Kentucky and brothers, George Hikes, Johnnie Hikes, and James Hikes, all of Louisville, Kentucky. Surviving sisters are Evelyn Miller of Dallas, Georgia, Rose (Mike) Beavin, Linda Baines, Bonnie (Danny) Adams of Louisville and Lillie Hikes of Burlington, North Carolina. There are numerous surviving nieces and nephews.
Fay was preceded in death by her father, George Hikes, infant sister, Diane of Louisville and her maternal grandparents, Ernest and Audrey Williams of Fairdale, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW from 4 PM to 7 P.M.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church, 412 High Street in Canal Fulton, at 10 AM with Reverend Kevin McCaffrey celebrant.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in her memory to Dominican Sisters, 1834 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
