Fred W. Burau Jr., age 84, Passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 at his residence in Massillon.

He was born in Beaver Falls, PA on May 17, 1927, the son of the late Fred W. and Vera (Miller) Burau Sr.

Fred served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post # 221, Massillon Senior Center and was an AARP Tax Aide for over 20 years. He retired in 1983 from the former Republic Steel where he was an accountant for over 36 years.

Fred is survived by his wife Donna (Corban) Burau whom he married April 22, 1951, sons and daughters-in-law Fred and Rochelle Burau III of Tuscaloosa, AL, Daniel and Sharon 'Rosie' Burau of Massillon, daughter Cathy Lantzer of Dover, sisters Peggy E. Burau and Elizabeth 'Babe' Collier both of Massillon, grandchildren Steven (Leandra) Lantzer, Karen Lantzer, Fred Burau IV, and Emily Burau, and great-grandson Aaron Smith.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 11 A.M.at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel with Rev. Larry Lalama officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Presbyterian Church or Mercy Hospice.
