Frederick James Gilbert of Lakeview Terrace Retirement Community in Altoona, Florida, passed away December 23, 2023 at the age of 89.  Prior to living in Florida, he and his wife, Mary Jo lived in Jackson Township and were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Yolanda (Delma) Vincent, and his father, Frederick Gilbert; his wife of 55 years, Mary Jo Kennedy Gilbert (1956-2011) and wife, Carol Victoria Gilbert (2012-2023). Fred retired from a long career in the pneumatic nail and staple business.  He enjoyed working, reading western novels and biographies, camping, watching University of Notre Dame football and traveling all over the world. Fred is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Donald) Knotts Madison, TN and Cindee (Michael) David Bridgeport, WV; grandchildren, Patrick David (Sarah) Mentor, Ohio, Jonathon (Hannah) and Ryan David both of Bridgeport, WV; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Isaac David, Ohio and Oliver David, Dane and Emersyn Harris WV; stepchildren, Lance Stevenson Tampa, FL, Sarah (Marc) Noll, Oswego, IL.  He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Roger (Dorothy) Vincent of North Canton, and sister, Demaris (Carl) Scheetz of Massillon, as well as several nieces and a nephew.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, 639 1st St NE, Massillon at 11 AM. Following the service inurnment will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
