Frederick L. Spidell, age 87 of Massillon, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Amherst Meadows Nursing Home.

He was born September 12, 1927 in Massillon, the son of the late William F. and Edna M. (Ax) Spidell.

He retired from Republic Steel after 38 years of service,  then working at Edison Jr. High for 15 years.

Fred was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Holy Name Society. He performed at the 10 Star Theater, Massillon Lion's Club Annual Show, North Canton Theater, and the Palace Theater; and singing with the Massillon Senior Center.

Frederick is survived by his sons, William Spidell of Jackson Twp., Paul (Cathy) Spidell of Jackson Twp., John and James Spidell both of Massillon; daughter, Mary Jane Spidell of Massillon; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife, Kathleen Spidell (2011).

Visitation will be held Friday, November 14 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heitger Funeral Home Massillon Chapel, 639 First St NE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, at 10AM with Rev. Raymond Paul celebrant.

Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon.
