Obituary

Gary D. Baker, passed away January 30, 2022, in the arms of Lomin (Lanzer) Baker, his wife of 51 years.

Gary was born on December 23, 1949, to Clifford Gene and Delores Baker in Massillon, Ohio, where he lived almost all of his life. He was a 1967 graduate of Tuslaw High School.

Lomin and Gary were married on April 8, 1970.  He served four years in the United States Army during which the young family lived in Hawaii and New Jersey.  After leaving the Army, Gary worked several jobs before ultimately retiring from Heinz Frozen Foods in 2014.

Gary enjoyed a laid-back lifestyle in his retirement.  He went on memorable vacations but was just as happy relaxing at home and enjoying the birds and deer in his own backyard.

His most cherished moments were those spent with his family for whom he always had a kind and loving smile.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Bryan (Holly) Baker and Kara (Scott) Dodson, and seven grandchildren, Chase (Noel), Paige, Faith, Claire and Raine Baker, and Joel and Grant Dodson.  He is also survived by siblings, Robert Baker, Neil Baker, and Judy Stewart, and numerous aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces and nephews.

To Gary every day was a beautiful day.  He fully appreciated all the blessings that life had given him.  As he constantly told his family, including on the last day that he was with them, he was a lucky man.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave. N.W., Massillon.
