Obituary

Gary "Bevo" L Braun, age 74, of Massillon went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 5, 2014.


He was born in Massillon on August 1, 1940, the son of the late Harold and Joyce (Ginther) Braun.


Gary retired from Union Drawn Division  of Republic Steel after 45 years of service and had served as Past Treasurer of  the Steel Workers Union.    He had also worked with R. C. Dominick construction.


He served in the U.S. Army for three years and had been stationed in France and Germany.


Gary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he was former Treasurer of Holy Name Society, usher and assistant basketball coach.  He was also a member of K of C Council #554, 3rd Degree and former vice-president of Cluster Island Recreation Association.  He enjoyed woodworking, building, boating, Cleveland Sports, attending his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with friends.


Gary is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean (Mowder) Braun, son and daughter-in-law Mark and Annette Braun of Sugarcreek, son Bryan Braun and his fiance' Kori Brady of Kent, daughter and son-in-law Suzanne and Mark Mauger of Massillon, brothers and sisters-in-law Ronald and Linda Braun of Massillon, Kenneth and Marsha Braun of Vero Beach, FL, sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Jo and John Climo of Massillon, Becky and Tom Price of Massillon, and sister Roseann Basham of Greendale, Wisconsin, grandchildren  David (Dana) Braun of New Philadelphia, Benjamin and Jacob Braun of Sugarcreek, Jesyca and Sydnee Braun of Massillon, Elizabeth and Melanie Mauger of Massillon, Alex Marsinek and Logan Miller of Kent, Aunt Norma Jean (Bob) McMahon of Massillon, friends, nieces, nephews and extended family.


In addition of his parents, he was preceded in death by brother-in-law Fred Basham.


Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel.


Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Revs. Edward Gretchko and Raymond Paul celebrants.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers,  memorials may be made to Eight  Days of Hope, P.O. Box 3208, Tupelo, Miss  38803.
