George M. Kemper, age 85 of Jackson Township, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Summa Akron City Hospital following a brief illness. He was born June 21, 1940, in Sharon, PA, the son of the late George and Amelia (Madsen) Kemper. George started his long career at Goodyear as an engineer, transitioning into Human Resources and union arbitration thereafter. He also worked at Canton Drop Forge after his retirement from Goodyear. In his younger years, George loved to play basketball and was a member of the '57 Sharon Tigers team that won the state championship. He then attended Iowa State University and obtained a degree in engineering before meeting the love of his life, Judy, after a softball game in Akron.  From traveling to Disney World and the beach with his kids and grandkids to coaching his daughters' softball teams, George was always happiest when spending time with family. George is survived by his son, George (Kim) Kemper, Jr.; three daughters, Deborah (Joseph) Kunzon, Jennifer (Anthony) Siebers, Kathryn (Matthew) Webster; thirteen grandchildren, Brian (Madison), Brett, Hannah, and Hayden Kemper; Jake, Drew, and Claire Kunzon; Madison, Maren, and Henry Siebers; Riley, Brooke, and Lucy Webster; and two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Maisie Kemper. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judithe H. Kemper, and his sister, Carolyn Kirby. Calling hours will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave NW from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with the funeral service following at 11:00 am. Burial to follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
