Gerald W. Hartmann Sr. of Massillon, age 77, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012 following a brief illness surrounded by his family.

He was born March 16, 1935, the son of late Rudolph and Gertrude (Weisler) Hartmann. He was a self employed carpenter and was a member of Eagles # 190 and Massillon Moose #481. He enjoyed boating, fishing and ballroom dancing.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 55 years Shirley Hartmann of the home, sons and daughters-in-law Jerry and Jill Hartmann of Massillon and Mike and Margie Hartmann of Navarre, daughter and son-in-law Lori and Bryan Weikert of Dalton, grandchildren Jared and Matt Hartmann, Anna and Sara Weikert and two sisters Marilyn and Sandy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son James Wray Hartmann.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Heitger Funeral Home - Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave N.W., from 5 to 8 P.M.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
