Gerald C. Hoffman, age 82, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Brewster Parke Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.

He was born January 21, 1929, the son of the late George and Christina (Yando) Hoffman. He owned and operated Hoffman Toy Store in Massillon for many years. He was a machinist and raced stock cars He was a member of St. Mary Cathoic Church.

Gerald is survived by a son, Gerald (Patty) Hoffman of Canton; daughters, Marsha Smith of Massillon and Susan (Chris) Romar of Canal Fulton; three grandsons, Gerald Hoffman of Columbus, John Hoffman of Texas, and Matthew Hoffman of Massillon.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen (Smith) Hoffman who died in 2002; brothers Harold, Kenneth, Walter and infant brother Jerome Hoffman; sisters, Mary Lafaber, Phyllis Gankowski, Thelma Trainer, Genevieve Lightner, Hilda Sibila and infant granddaughter, Maureen Romar.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Service - Massillon Chapel, 639 First ST NE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Edward Gretchko celebrant.

Burial at Sunset Hills Burial Park, Canton.
