Brenner
September 12, 1927 – May 6, 2016
Glenn passed peacefully in the loving care of his granddaughter Suzanne Overbey, her husband Dave and their children in their home on May 6, 2016. He came into this world on September 12, 1927, at the family home in East Greenville, Ohio, the son of LaVerne and Katherine (Franz) Brenner, who predecease him. Glenn served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was stationed on the Island of Guam. He was employed at Union Drawn Steel in Massillon until his retirement in 1984. He and Wanda moved to Flamingo Bay, FL, in 1986, returning to Massillon in 2002. While in Florida, he worked at a golf course which provided him many opportunities to golf and observe the wildlife on the course, including gators on the cart paths. Glenn was a football fan, especially the Massillon Tigers, a fan of the Cleveland Indians, he also enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and NASCAR. He coached youth baseball in Massillon in the 1970's, and was proud of the boys on the team who he led to a championship. He was a recipient of the Sonny Kettler Award in recognition of his work with the youth on his team. He was a member of Sons and Daughters of Herman. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda, whom he married January 17, 1948 and who passed in 2008, his step-father John Haer and his brother Maurice "Morrie" Brenner. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons Terry (Beccy) Brenner of Rio Rancho, NM, and William "Bill" (Debbie) Brenner of LaMesa, CA; his daughter Bonnie Yeaman of Massillon, his granddaughter Suzanne (David) Overbey of Jackson Twp., granddaughter Windi Brenner of LaMesa, CA, grandsons Brian Brenner of Ohio, Kevin (Heather) Brenner of Albuquerque, NM, Forrest Sarff, Brookes Brenner and Clayton Brenner of LaMesa; great-granddaughters Cassidy Vaughn of Jackson Twp., Haley Brenner of Albuquerque and Anna Overbey of Alliance; great-grandson Zachary Vaughn of Jackson Twp; his sisters-in-law Vernice Morton, Donna Hoover and Lee Brenner and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 10th from 6 to 8 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home, Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave. N.W., Massillon, 44646. Friends may also call one hour before the funeral services which will be on Wednesday, May 11th, 2016 at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Summa At Home Hospice, 1077 Gorge Blvd, Akron, Ohio 44310. Please leave condolences here on our site.
