Harold Joseph Hoot 1928-2017, 89 devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother died peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2017.
Beloved husband of Maxine R. Hoot (Hamilton), whom he married on May 14, 1955; loving father of daughter Sandy (Tim) Himebaugh of North Canton; sons David, Paul, Patrick and Timothy of Canton. Adored grandfather of Amanda (Luke) Dalpiaz of Louisville, Erika Hoot and Brianna Hoot of Canton; Jesse (Ami) Himebaugh of North Canton, and adorning great-grandfather of Diesel Himebaugh and Dominic Dalpiaz, Sister Clara (Richard) Graber of Massillon; brothers Donald (Mary) Hoot of Massillon and Ernie (Sue) Sarbaugh of Massillon; as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his wife, Maxine (Hamilton) Hoot, daughter, Karen Louise Hoot, parents Cyril and Martha (Langbein) Hoot and brother Cyril Jr. "Butch" (Anita) Hoot.
Harold was born in Canton, Ohio on March 19, 1928. Harold served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant being a Tank Commander. Harold worked 35 years for Republic Steel Locker Division in Canton until he retired on March 31, 1983 as Superintendent. Harold was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, enjoyed home improvement projects and helping others. Harold and Maxine Hoot were founding members of St. Michael the Archangel Church. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Calling hours will be at the Heitger Funeral Home in Jackson Township, located at 5850 Wales Avenue N.W. Massillon on Wednesday, August 2, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.. Services will be held at Heitger Funeral Home in Jackson Township, on Thursday, Aug 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Edward Gretchko officiating. Burial services will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association, 4682 Douglas Cir. N.W., Canton, Ohio 44718.
