Herbert Charles Seifert Jr., age 93, of Massillon, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026.
He was born June 26, 1933, in Barberton, Ohio, to the late Herbert and Eileen (Hitchcock) Seifert Sr.
Herb was a 1951 graduate of Canal Fulton High School. He has been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Massillon, Ohio, since September, 1955 and a volunteer with St. Vincent DePaul Society. He served his country in the Korean War for the U.S. Army as Corporal from June 1953 to April 1955 as a bulldozer operator in the 696th Ordnance Ammunition Company. He is a former member of the Massillon Knights of Columbus #554 and Massillon American Legion Post #221. He was a member of the Jackson Twp. No.2 Volunteer Fire Department for over 12 years and helped with the building of the No. 2 Fire Station. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their camper to various parts of the United States. He was an avid woodworker and made quilt chests, clocks, quilt racks, etc. He remodeled their family home and loved to fish in his Starcraft boat.
Herb retired from Ohio Air Products.
Herb is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Irene (Fischer) Seifert; children, Patricia (Charles) Wolfe of Wheeling, WV, Michael (Paula) Seifert of Canton, Irene Dodson (Chris Warsinsky) of Canton, and Charles (Lauren) Seifert of Mineral City, 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sibling, Phyllis (Michael) Millan of Oregon, and cousin,Terry (Joyce) Willmott of Canal Fulton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Arthur Seifert; and son-in-law, Richard Dodson.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at Divine Mercy - St. Mary's Campus on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 11 A.M.
Burial will follow with full military honors at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Divine Mercy/St. Mary's Campus, 2813 Lincoln Way W., Massillon, Ohio, 44647.
