Herbert J. Swisher, age 89 of Massillon, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 23, 2015.

He served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist's Mate and a Gunner on a B 17 during WWII.

Herb retired in 1986 from Superior Brand Meats where he was a route manager.

He was actively involved in Mission work in his church and enjoyed fishing and bowling.

Herb is survived by sons Mitchell Lantzer of Canton, step-son Scott Jones of N.C., daughters Mary Ann (Charles) Sumption, Sandra Marshall, Tina (Charles) Rohr, Lynette Cunningham all of Massillon, step-daughters Susan Donaldson of Massillon, Sandy (Dana) Cole and Sonya (Don) Stewart all of Canton, 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and former wife Rose Swisher of Massillon.

He was preceded in death by wife Joyce, brothers Lowell and George Swisher.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 6 P.M. at Rivertree Christian Church Massillon Campus (corner of Main and 17th N.W.) with Pastor Tom Williams of Liberty Baptist officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 P.M. at the church prior to the service.

Burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to D.A.V., P. O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301 or to the family for expenses.
