Irene E. McGuire, age 96 of Jackson Twp., passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Laurels of Massillon.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and League of St. Dymphna. She enjoyed sewing, baking and was a devoted Cleveland Indians Fan.

Irene is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Cindy and Tom Stonebrook of Jackson Twp. and Julie and Barry Schoen of Powhatan, VA and a sister Amelia Higgins of Jackson Twp. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Amelia (Warth) Sonnhalter, her husband of 61 years James L. McGuire who died Aug. 24, 2002, son Steven McGuire who died Nov. 20, 2013 and sister Dorothy White who died March 5, 2009.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, 639 First St. N.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. John Tully celebrant. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
